Yada is a Christian charity. Are they going to bring this into their outreach?
Yada, as a Christian charity, leads its outreach sessions with values of compassion, respect, integrity and service to others. We focus on empathetic, trauma informed, emotional and practical support, and ethical standards to build trust and transparency. The outreach we provide is never our agenda and always led by you, with a focus on meeting the needs of the individual through tailored practical and emotional support.

Our approach is inclusive. We understand everyone has different viewpoints, experiences and beliefs and we are welcoming to all individuals, without any bias, discrimination and never pushing our own. We respect and honour the diverse beliefs of those we serve and strive to create an environment of understanding and belonging.
Is Yada outreach an exit service for those selling, exchanging or coerced into sexual acts?
Yada is not an exit service. Our support is not conditional on exiting. Our focus is on providing compassionate support to individuals, regardless of their circumstances, without any agenda. We understand that there are many complex reasons someone may be selling or exchanging sex. Our goal is to get alongside you wherever you are, offering support in the safest and most understanding way possible. We are here to listen and provide assistance tailored to your needs respecting your journey and choices. This may look like safety devices and advice, identifying barriers and working on goals, practical support such as looking at housing, debt, food, giving sexual health items and more. Or emotional such as listening support or in house counselling.

Some women working in the sex industry would not identify as being sexually exploited. That is ok. At Yada we recognise that the risk of exploitation whilst engaging in the sex industry is high and we want to support women who are selling or exchanging sex to reduce risk of exploitation.

For individuals who have faced or are currently facing sexual exploitation, we offer a safe environment to help you process your experiences, and support you to safety. Our aim is to support you through this challenging time, empowering you to live without the burdens of abuse, stigma or violence.

Through intervention and outreach support for women currently experiencing or recovering from exploitation, we stand alongside each woman as she shapes her own path forward.
What are the outreach workers like?
At Yada our values are being non-judgemental, person-centred and trauma informed. That means when we are employing staff we look for these values.

Our outreach team are friendly, warm, and informal. They recognise that you are the experts of your life and are here to support you without pressuring.

Our outreach team are dedicated and passionate about advocating.
I want support but I don’t live in West Sussex. What should I do?
You can still reach out to us. We would love to have a chat with you and if you wish, can signpost you or refer you into organisations in your local area that can provide you with the support you would like.
If I meet an outreach worker for an initial visit, does that mean I have to commit for outreach?
Meeting with an outreach worker for an initial visit doesn't mean you have to commit to any further outreach sessions. It's an opportunity for you to meet an outreach worker,  to discuss anything you feel comfortable sharing, find out more about our service and what we offer, discuss any needs and for you to decide what is best for you moving forwards. The sessions are around an hour but can be shorter if you wish and are in a location you feel comfortable in, normally a cafe or we can go for a walk. There is also no rush to decide if we are the right service for you and can get back to us in your own time.
Will my outreach worker stay the same throughout my support?
Yes, as much as is possible, your outreach worker will remain the same to provide consistent support. We understand trust is so important and that building trust takes time. However, changes may occur due to availability or other factors but continuity is a priority.
I want support, how do I get in touch?
You can contact us either by texting or calling, or by emailing info@yadauk.org. You or a trusted person can fill out this referral form and this will help us understand how we can support you best.
What will happen at my first outreach meeting?
Once you have completed a referral form we will offer to meet you in the community. We will bring a wellbeing pack and we will share about who we are and what we do. There will be no expectation for you to share your story. We will share our service user agreement form and this explains what you can expect from us. If when hearing about what we do you decide you would like support we will then add you to our waiting list. This tend to be a maximum of 3 months, you will then be allocated an outreach worker and you can meet with them to arrange how you’d like the support to look moving forward.
I am not selling or exchanging sex but I am worried about needing to start doing this to pay the bills. What should I do?
We are here to support women at risk of sexual exploitation as well as women who are currently being sexually exploited.
