Location: West Worthing, Yada office preferred (all travel expenses are paid), with the option to do this remotely over Zoom.
Availability: Weekday afternoons, currently Wednesday afternoons 2–3:30pm. Approximately 1.5 hours per week, fortnight or month, depending on your availability.
Expected commitment: Minimum of six months.
Reporting to: The Yada Outreach Lead.
Due to the nature of our work, our volunteer positions are open to female applicants only, as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Vision and purpose
Yada exists to support self-identifying women across West Sussex who are experiencing, have experienced, or are at risk of sexual exploitation. Through a combination of early intervention, outreach and education, the charity works alongside women to enable them to shape their own futures. Yada, which means ‘to be known’, is at the heart of how we approach our work. Being non-judgemental, trauma-informed and person-centred are the principal values in our work.
Understanding sexual exploitation
Yada defines sexual exploitation as situations where an individual is used for sexual purposes in exchange for money, power or other benefits. This includes women who are selling or exchanging sex, working in the sex industry, or being coerced by others. The organisation recognises that not all women in the sex industry identify as exploited. However, we recognise that the risk of exploitation whilst engaging in the sex industry is high, and we want to support women who are selling or exchanging sex to reduce the risk of exploitation.
Your main responsibility as a Netreach volunteer
Your main responsibility will be to work alongside a Yada staff member to conduct ‘Netreach’.
- Netreach is the process by which we contact local women in the sex industry to discuss the free support we can offer them. There are safeguarding measures we put in place for this, such as turning images off, using a particular office-based phone, working within a team and more, which we will cover in training.
- Initially, you will be researching and inputting data from the session while a staff member conducts the calls.
- During the session, signs of sexual exploitation are also monitored.
- Having been trained, when office-based, you will have the opportunity, if you wish, to make calls and send emails to women, offering them wellbeing packs, safety information and further support. We have a script for this, although it is tailored to each call.
- If you are interested in supporting the team through events and workshops, opportunities will be available throughout the year.
Personal development
- Attend regular supervision provided by the Yada team.
- Attend all training as necessary.
- Ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding are brought to the immediate attention of the Outreach Lead or Yada Manager or, if unavailable, another member of the team.
- Be committed to learning about the issues surrounding the sex industry.
- Be sympathetic to Yada’s vision and the Christian ethos of the organisation.
Requirements
Yada operates according to the three core conditions as set out in person-centred therapy: congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathy.
It is essential that you:
- remain non-judgemental and do not pursue a personal agenda
- respond quickly to emergency or pressurised situations
- understand the importance of confidentiality
- work well in a team
- are self-aware, and recognise the importance of self-care
- communicate in fluent English (written and spoken).
Experience of working with women at risk and/or other relevant experience is desirable.
Training and induction will be provided, and we actively encourage the continuous personal development of all our team.
As this role may require you to handle sensitive information, you will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
A full DBS check must be undertaken.
